ECTASY WHAT IS IT, WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

Ectasy In Bottle

Ectasy on the street it is known as MDMA, XTC, E,X, Beans, and Adams. Adolescents and young adults use it to promote euphoria, feelings of closeness, empathy, sexuality, and to reduce inhibitions. It is considered a "a party drug" and obtained at "rave"or "techno" parties.

What is it?. Ectasy, a ring substituted derivative of phenethylamine, having a pharmacological profile similar to amphetamine and mescaline. MDMA increases motor activity, alertness, heart rate and blood pressure. It also induces perceptual changes, including enhancement of tactile sensations. Other effects include euphoria, increased energy, increased sexual arousal, increased "need" to be touched and increased need for stimulation.

MDMA is usually taken orally in tablet form. Other methods of abuse are crushing and snorting or injecting. MDMA abusers usually take MDMA by ""stacking"--taking three or more tablets at once or by "piggy-backing"--taking a series of tablets over a short period of time.Other things being done is "candy flipping,"the abusing of MDMA and LSD.

MDMA dextromethorphan (found in coughsyrup)), amphetamines, PCP, or cocaine--are something added to substitute for, MDMA in Ectasy tablets. Makers of MDMA can add anything they want to the drug, so its purity is always in question.

IT IS USED THIS WAY

Most MDMA users take a pill, tablet or capsule. These pills can be different colors, and sometimes have cartoon-like images on them. Some MDMA users takemore than one pill at a time, called "bumping."

IS IT ADDICTIVE?

Like other drugs, Ectasy can be addictive for some people. That is, people continue to take the drug despite experiencing unpleasant physical side effects and other social, behavioral, and health consequences.

No one knows how many times a person can use a drug before becoming addicted or who's most vulnerable to addiction.

Ectasy is primarily manufactured in clandestine laboratories in the Netherlands and Belgium. MDMA destined to the United States fom the Netherlands is transferred through Germany and Poland and smuggled into the U.S. via body carriers by air/sea cargo, luggage,, and by express mail. A small number of MDMA clandestine laboratories have been identified operating in the United States.

MDMA is distributed in tablet form and most contain MDMA alone. Many so-called MDMA tablets contain other substances such as MDA, methamphetamines, ketamine, caffeine, amphetamine, either alone or in combination with MDMA. MDMA tablets are sold with logos, creating a brand name for users to seek out.MDMA is also distributed in capsules, powder, and liquid forms. The Prices range from 3.00 to $45.00. MDMA is available in every region of the country.

What you need to know is MDMA is a schedule I controlled substance under the Federal Controlled Substance Act

THE EFFECT ON THE BRAIN

(MDMA) exerts its primary effects in the brain on neurons that use the chemical (or neurotransmitter) serotonin to communicate with other neurons. The serotonin system plays an important role in regulating mood, aggression, sexual activity, sleep, and sensitivty to pain.

ADDICTIVE POTENTIAL

For some people MDMA can be addictive. It was found that among young adults and adolescent MDMA users found that 43 percent of those who reported ectasy use met the accepted diagnostic criteria for dependence, as evidenced by continued use despite knowledge of physical or psychological harm, withdrawal effects, and tolerance. Withdrawal symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, depressed feelings and trouble concentrating.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Ectasy can be dangerous to overall health and, on rare occasions, lethal. MDMA can have many of the same physical effects as other stimulants, such as cocaine and amphetamines. These include increases in heart rate and blood pressure--which present risks of particular concern for people with circulatory problems or heart disease---and other symptoms such as tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, faintness, and chills or sweating.

Click Here! WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT OPTIONS

There are no specific treatments for Ectasy (MDMA) abuse and addiction. The most effective treatments for drug abuse and addiction in general are cognitive behavioral interventions that are designed to help modify the patient's thinking, experiences, and behaviors related to their drug use and to increase skill in coping with life stressors. Drug abuse recovery support groups may also be effective in combination with behavioral interventions to support long-term,drug-free-recovery. There are currently no pharmacological treatments for addiction to MDMA.
